Culture and History on the most African island of Cape Verde

It all started on Santiago. The Portuguese explorers founded Ribeira Grande, today's Cidade Velha, the first city in the tropics and former slave transshipment point.
The country's capital Praia is located in the southeast of the island. The administrative and economic center is now a modern city whose population is constantly increasing. The historic center of the city (and probably the most beautiful part Praia) is the Plato. The city beach of Kebra Kanela is a great place to swim and relax and escape the heat of the city.
You can start various tours from Praia and add a beach holiday in the north of the island in Tarrafal. On Wednesdays and Saturdays it is worth making a stop in Assomada and visiting the largest and most colorful market of Santiago. The scenic diversity of the island is unique.
