Do you prefer to explore the island more comfortably, without hiking? Do you want to see the most beautiful spots on the green side of Santo Antão?
Your driver and local guide will wait for your arrival at the harbor and you start your private island tour along the old street up to the Cova crater, where you will have a first overview over the island and can take some amazing pictures. You will continue to the fishing village Ponta do Sol, where a delicious lunch is waiting for you. After you will visit the breathtaking village Fontainhas, the green valleys of Ribeira da Torre and Paúl. Along the coastal road your driver will take you back to the harbour or leave you at your hotel.
Our island tour includes: Private transfer from/to Porto Novo, English speaking guide and lunch.
The ferry tickets from/to Mindelo are not included.
Islandtour west
Welcome to the less touristic and very impressive western part of Santo Antão!
Your driver and local guide will wait for your arrival at the harbor and you start your private island tour to the west side of the island. You will visit the valley of Alto Mira, do a short insider hike (about 1-2 hours) around Chã de Morte and Lagoa, where you will get a impression of the traditional villages and enjoy the breathtaking landscapes. Surrounded by the sharp mountains and craters you will be nothing but speechless! The tour continues to Lagedos, where you will enjoy a delicious lunch, prepared with ingredients from the region.
Our island tour includes: Private transfer from/to Porto Novo, English speaking guide and lunch.
The ferry tickets from/to Mindelo are not included.

Ponta do Sol - Cruzinha
Considered one of the most stunning hikes on Santo Antão, the landscapes you will explore while crossing from one valley to another, are nothing short of magnificent due to the constant contrast between the sea and the mountains. On your way, you will visit the famous village of Fontainhas, which, according to National Geographic Magazine, boasts the second best view in the world.

Paúl valley
Entering the valley of Paúl, one of the greenest on the island, with Cabo de Ribeira as your destination. The valley is connected with the Cova volcano, which is located in the national park of the eastern highlands. Blessed with the water that seeps into the high mountains, it is a stunning place, full of vegetation, offering the visitor direct contact with nature and a unique experience. During the hike you will have the possibility to taste typical dishes and local products, all made from the abundance of agricultural products that the valley provides.

Top de Coroa
The majestic Top de Coroa is the highest point of the island with 1979 meters altitude. Located on the west side of Santo Antão, it is part of the national park and surrounded by many craters. Once you reach Top de Coroa you will be rewarded with a 365 degrees view over the island.

alto mira - ribeira da cruz
A beautiful and touristic still very undiscovered route, which runs through the valley of Alto Mira and ends on the coast in Ribeira da Cruz. On the way you get the feeling of being at the end of the world!

After the challenging ascent is done, you can enjoy breathtaking views over the western mountain range and even to São Vicente. On your right-hand side, the highest point of the island Top de Cora majestically presents itself.

lagoa - ribeira fria
The moderate hike begins in the cozy village of Lagoa. Right at the start of the hike, you will be rewarded with great views. The closer you get to Ribeira Fria, the more varied the landscape becomes.

Janela
Situated on the eastern coast of Santo Antão, Janela is a small fishing and agricultural village. With a stark contrast between the sea and the mountains, this hike has fantastic landscapes waiting to be explored. But there is more: At the beginning of the hike, we visit the mysterious Pedra do Letreiro, a stone with very old, yet undecoded, signs, as well as the recycling factory where tiles are produced, from plastic! At the end you can enjoy a delicious fried fish (or also a vegetarian or vegan dish of course) with views of the ocean.

Vinha - Lombo de Pico
Located in the valley of Ribeira da Torre, one of the greenest valleys on Santo Antão, you will walk through magnificent landscapes. This hike is a must do when you visit Santo Antão!

Pinhão - Lombo Branco
Located on the eastern plateau and 600 meters above sea level, with a unique and splendid view, Pinhão will be the starting point of this hike. Along the walk, you will cross small streams and hills, remote and scattered villages, whose access is only by walking. The route provides you with untouched and beautiful landscapes, along with fresh and pure air. After the hike you will have the opportunity to visit Sinagoga and its natural swimming pools.

Caibros - Chã d´Igreja
This hike will lead you with stunning views trough one of the biggest valleys of Santo Antão. You will experience the Cape Verdean hospitality, Morabeza, first sight and enjoy a typical lunch at a family house.

Cova - Paúl
Located on the eastern plateau, the Cova volcano is part of the natural park. Paúl is considered the greenest valley on Santo Antão and a must-see. With its gorgeous scenery, this walk offers you the opportunity really get into nature and also get in contact with the local population, for example when tasting the famous grog, a national alcoholic beverage made from sugar cane; coffee, among other local products.

Chã das Pedras - Caibros
This soft hike brings you from one valley to the other. While passing by many mango trees and small villages you will see the typical Cape Verdean life, far away from many tourists.

Alto Mira - Chã de Morte
Alto Mira is an agricultural valley in the northwest of Santo Antão. Of incomparable beauty, it offers the visitor lush landscapes with interesting geological structures, a green valley between dry mountains that looks more like an oasis in the middle of the desert. The agriculture practiced in these valleys offers the visitor the opportunity to taste typical dishes of the island in the restaurant Babilónia, a project whose main aim is the development of the community in this region, thus contributing to sustainable tourism.

Lagoinha - Caibros
The extensive Lagoa plateau is an agricultural and farming area. Among other things, the famous goat's milk cheese is produced there. The lack of water in this region means that agriculture is depending a lot on rain. Depending on the season, the landscape is green or dry. During a walk through the valley, the visitor has the privilege of experiencing great and extended landscapes.

Agua das Caldeiras - Xôxô
Agua das Caldeiras is located on the eastern plateau of the national park on Santo Antão and is the starting point of this hike, which will lead you down to the valley of Ribeira da Torre. First, we will explore the forest that has great diversity and an extremely important role for the flora of the region. Ribeira da Torre is connected with the vulcano Cova and benefits from the filtered mountain water, which makes it a green valley the whole year trough.

Canyon Chà de Morte - Lagedos
A hidden hike through the beautiful canyon that starts in the village of Chã de Morte. Here you can enjoy absolute peace and contact with nature. After the hike, a delicious lunch awaits you in the organic restaurant Babylonia, where local products are used.

Tarrafal - Monte Trigo
The tour along the coast to the small village of Monte Trigo is spectacular. On the right rises the highest mountain of Santo Antão ,the Top de Coroa, on the left the sheer endless blue ocean. After the hike a fishing boat will take you back to Tarrafal.
Note: This hike requires to sleep in Tarrafal or Porto Novo the day before
